.NET 4.5.2 at your service!

Takeshi EtoWe performed our second Windows Azure Pack (WAP) update yesterday. Did your users notice it? Probably not, since websites were operational during the update.

One of the benefits of Azure Pack and the Everleap platform is the ability to roll out updates across all of the servers without any interruption in website availability. A significant improvement over traditional hosting where brief outages for updates are unavoidable. The roll out of the update actually went on all through the night and into this morning.

Although websites were available, to perform this update we had to take the control panel offline. With all our update testing in our dev environment, the update took about 5 minutes. We anticipated the control panel to be offline for about 30-60 min. However, this part of the update took a lot longer than anticipated and the control panel was offline for about 4 hours. For those that were trying to do work within the control panel yesterday during the update, we do apologize. We will make sure to factor this experience in with our future notifications for WAP updates.

With this update our platform is current with the latest Microsoft Web Stack and now supports .NET 4.5.2. Microsoft has stated that .NET 4.5.2 is a highly compatible in-place update to .NET 4.5.1 / 4.5 / 4 in their blog.  But, if you do encounter any issues with your site, please contact our technical support team.

In addition to these updates we have some exciting SQL Server news coming very soon. Check back here or keep an eye on Twitter.
