Configuring Email Accounts in nopCommerce

As the holidays approach, online stores will get more active. For online ecommerce success, customer communication is a vital part of the customer experience. If your customers have a question about any product, they should be able to communicate with you and if any customers places an order on your site, your store site should send an email notification to the customer right away with order details. In this post I’ll show you where and how to configure your email settings.

In nopCommerce, all the email services like order notification, contact us form, or customer support email depends on the configuration of email accounts in administration area.

To manage/configure Email Accounts, login to your nopCommerce store site as an administrator.

Go to: Administration -> Dashboard

Navigate to: Configuration -> Email Accounts

• Once you are on the “Email Accounts” page, you will see a list of email accounts
• By default, there should be one test email account listed on your email accounts list that will need some configuration and correct mailbox credentials
• You can add multiple Email Accounts as per your requirements
• You can either add a new email account or edit existing ones

While configuring your email account, you will see following options:

• Email Address field: Enter the FROM email address for all outgoing emails like: [email protected] or [email protected]   
• Email Display Name field: Enter the displayed name for outgoing emails of your store. Example, Your Store Sales Department
• Host field: Enter the mail server found in your control panel smXX.internetmailserver.net
• Port field: Enter the SMTP port of your mail server
• User field: Enter the username of your mail server account
• Password field: Enter the password of your mail server account
• SSL checkbox: Enable it to use Security Sockets Layer to encrypt the SMTP connection (if needed)
• Use default credentials checkbox: Enable it to use default credentials for the connection (if needed)

Once you have saved the configuration/mailbox credentials, you can try sending a test email by using this section.
