I’m happy to announce that we have successfully renewed our EU-US Privacy Shield and Swiss-US Privacy Shield certification. We worked with our privacy management solutions partner, Truste, to help us in this effort. If you want more information about the program, you can visit PrivacyShield.gov.
Earlier this year, we all saw a LOT of activity around privacy policy and practices updates due to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into effect on May 25th, 2018. We also made our own updates for GDPR following what we understood about the new GDPR regulation. But the GDPR is new and, while the agreement itself was finalized, its interpretation and how that flows to related business practices in a practical sense is still evolving. At this time no privacy management company, including Truste, has a formal GDPR certification.
So even though there may be some ongoing drama with the Privacy Shield Framework, it is still valid and since there is an official certification process for the Privacy Shield Framework, we felt that it was important for us to renew our Privacy Shield status this year and continue to demonstrate our commitment to customer privacy.
