ASP.NET 5 is the very latest yes, and it’s pretty cool. But it’s also a significant departure from previous .NET versions. This version introduces a more modular .NET that has been optimized to run in the cloud.
You can read a lot more about it on the various Microsoft sites out there, and it’s still in beta, so expect some things to change. But if you are the curious type and want to run an asp.net 5.0 beta application on Everleap right now, I’m going to show you exactly how to do it. You may be surprised at how easy it is.

Some of you have asked us for the ability to register domains for multiple years, so we’ve added a Domain Renewal system to Control Panel that allows you to do just that.
In the Domain services section, you’ll notice a new “Renew” link. In the Renew panel, you can extend your domain registration for multiple years.
I am proud to report that we have successfully renewed our Microsoft Partner Gold Hosting Competency for 2015! This marks our 10th year maintaining Microsoft Gold Partner status.
Microsoft continues to raise the bar to attain the Gold partner level so we have to make an investment every year to maintain our status. To earn a Microsoft Gold Competency, organizations must employ several Microsoft Certified Professionals who must pass various up-to-date certification exams related to the competency, demonstrate their commitment to customer satisfaction by participating in an annual survey (and scoring well on that survey), submit multiple customer references, as well as pass Cloud technology and marketing assessments.
We’re excited to announce the availability of Managed SQL Hosting at Everleap. This new premium SQL solution will provide you with your own SQL server that is not shared with any other customers. Your database service gets access to all of the disk space, CPU and RAM on the server. Like all of our hosting services, it is fully managed. We handle server updates and security at no additional cost, freeing you to devote your time and energy to your site or application, not server maintenance.
This Saturday, March 7th, we’re heading out to Orange County for the return of SoCal Code Camp OC. We have sponsored our local developer community for many, many years under the DiscountASP.NET banner, but now with our new cloud hosting brand launched, we’re going under the Everleap banner. Literally, there’s a banner. It says “Everleap.”
If you’re a developer in the area, come join us! Code Camps are a fun, friendly, and FREE way to learn something new and consort with your cohorts. Or just hang with your host.
(Psst, look for us by the banner.)
We performed our second Windows Azure Pack (WAP) update yesterday. Did your users notice it? Probably not, since websites were operational during the update.
One of the benefits of Azure Pack and the Everleap platform is the ability to roll out updates across all of the servers without any interruption in website availability. A significant improvement over traditional hosting where brief outages for updates are unavoidable. The roll out of the update actually went on all through the night and into this morning.
We offer traditional Windows shared hosting over at DiscountASP.NET and cloud hosting at Everleap.com. So naturally people ask us, “What’s the difference between shared hosting and cloud hosting?” In this post, I want to address this question in a general overview.
Wow. Another year passes. 2014 just flew by so fast that I didn’t even have a chance to post this in December! Every year I try to look back and talk about the top ten things that we accomplished during the year. This is the first of such lists for Everleap. So for 2014 – here goes…
